The mayor of Haría, Alfredo Villalba, accompanied by the accidental secretary of the City Council, has traveled to the coastal towns of Arrieta and Punta Mujeres to proceed with the taking of possession of the land that has been expropriated. In total, there are ten plots destined to consolidate the public use of the land, guaranteeing its preservation as free spaces for the enjoyment of the citizens.
The mayor of Haría, Alfredo Villalba, highlighted that "said lands will be destined to public domain, such as garden areas or parks, and on a provisional basis, depending on the occupation of the towns during vacation periods, they may be enabled as parking areas."
"After many years of litigation, the lands become municipal property for the use and enjoyment of the neighbors. This achievement guarantees that these areas will remain protected and accessible for future generations," concluded the mayor.
Of the affected plots, nine are located in Arrieta: six on La Garita street and three on Peñas del Chache street. The tenth plot is located on Las Salinas street in Punta Mujeres.
These lands were incorporated in 1993 as a free space within the land delimitation project of the coastal towns, and in 2007 they were included in the General Plan of Ordination of the Municipality of Haría under the qualification of General System of Free Spaces.
Over the years, there have been several attempts to modify its use to favor private interests. However, the current governing group has defended and consolidated its public use through the expropriation process.
With this action, the City Council of Haría ratifies its determination with the defense of the general interest and the preservation of free spaces for the well-being of the community.
