The Haría City Council has reported this Friday that the natural pools area of Punta Mujeres, between the Cura pool and the Pichón pool, which had been closed since last Monday after the detection of sewage spills, has been opened for swimming.
In the latest analyses carried out by the Public Health Directorate of Lanzarote, which depends on the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands, no type of contamination has been found in these waters, so the authorities have decided to open this area of the northern coast for swimming.
However, the Department of Health of the Haría City Council emphasizes that the Playa Grande of Punta Mujeres does continue to be closed to swimming until further notice and until the levels of contamination have completely subsided.
It should be remembered that, after learning of the spills, the Haría City Council urged the company Canal Gestión and the competent authorities in the matter to resolve this situation as soon as possible and repair the damages that these spills may have caused on the coastline.
