The Department of Cleaning of the Arrecife City Council, directed by Jacobo Lemes, strongly condemns "an act of incivility that occurred recently in the municipality, where a citizen was recorded throwing furniture from the roof of his house to an adjacent lot."
"This type of behavior not only poses a serious danger to the safety of people, but also directly threatens coexistence, health and the care of public space," denounces the head of the area. In this sense, Jacobo Lemes emphasizes the existence of a free collection service for belongings by the City Council that can be requested by calling the telephone number 928 815 560.
In addition, he recalls that "the municipality has surveillance cameras in various points, destined to prevent and identify this type of infractions. Thanks to these tools and citizen collaboration, the City Council is reinforcing its capacity to act against behaviors that deteriorate the image and security of the city."
Citizen involvement
"What is totally unacceptable is not using this service and choosing to abandon waste on public roads, or as in this case, throwing it from a roof," adds Jacobo Lemes, who nevertheless thanks the citizens for "their constant involvement and support in improving the cleanliness of Arrecife, because citizen collaboration is essential to eradicate uncivil behaviors like this one."
Currently, the Department of Cleaning of Arrecife has launched the citizen awareness campaign 'Leaving belongings on the street can be expensive', which promotes the involvement of all residents in the respect and care of the urban environment and in which it is recalled that infractions for this reason can range between 400 and 4,000 euros.
