The mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, signed this Wednesday with the Lanzarote company Transportes y Excavaciones Sccatmeca S.L the contract of 450,000 euros for the execution of the new improvements in the La Degollada picnic area.
Some works that consist of the renovation of the playground, construction of bathrooms and perimeter fencing of this 13,000 square meter space dedicated to leisure, a municipal project that the southern city council co-finances with charge to the Municipal Cooperation Plan 2023 of the Cabildo of Lanzarote.
Óscar Noda declares that "with this action we improve the equipment of one of the most valued recreation areas of our municipality. There are many residents of Yaiza and other municipalities who visit us and appreciate the comfort and tranquility of the picnic area. We have the obligation to renew and take care of it, always counting, of course, with the collaboration of the users".
The vice president and head of Public Works of the Cabildo, Jacobo Medina, says that "this work is a historical demand of the residents of the south of the Island. From Public Works of the Cabildo of Lanzarote we continue betting on the improvement and creation of open spaces for meeting and recreation for the enjoyment of the citizens of Lanzarote".
For his part, the Councilor for Maintenance of Public Buildings of Yaiza, Rubén Arca, recalls that "in the picnic area we have already carried out other actions with our own funds such as the construction and provision of five barbecue areas sheltered by stone walls, installation of pergolas for shade, accessibility works, tree planting and more recently the installation of six lighting points taking advantage of solar energy".
