The Department of Education of the Arrecife City Council, led by Abigail González, has carried out a series of maintenance and security reinforcement interventions in several Infant and Primary schools in the municipality. These actions respond to the City Council's commitment to maintain educational facilities in optimal conditions, guaranteeing a safe and adequate environment for the learning of the municipality's children.
Among the works carried out, broken glass has been replaced in the Capellanía del Yágabo, Adolfo Topham, Nieves Toledo and CEO Argana centers, improving the safety and insulation of the classrooms. In the CEIP Titerroy, security has been reinforced by placing a gate on the window of the Directorate, the point through which intruders had been registered on previous occasions.
The entrance gate has also been replaced at the Adult Education Center (CEPA), replacing the old iron structure with a new, safer and more functional one, and an enclosure with a door has been enabled at the CEIP Argana Alta, creating a suitable space for the Barrios Orquestados program to carry out its rehearsals.
In addition, improvements have been made to the window and door fittings at the CEIP La Destila, with an investment of 1,037.90 euros, and the carpentry of doors and windows has been repaired at the Los Geranios, Adolfo Topham, Titerroy and Antonio Zerolo centers, improving the accessibility and comfort of the facilities.
Likewise, a new intervention is planned at the CEIP Benito Méndez, which will include the repair of the rubber bands on the aluminum windows of the classrooms, among other actions.
These works seek to improve the insulation and durability of the materials, contributing to the thermal comfort of the students and the energy saving of the buildings.
On the other hand, thanks to the collaboration with the Department of Employment and Education of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, led by Ascensión Toledo, painting work is being carried out on the facilities of all schools.
Councilor Abigail González has expressed her commitment to continue developing actions that prioritize safety and well-being in Arrecife schools. "For us, it is essential to offer a suitable and safe environment to our students, and these works are a sample of the work we are doing in this line," says González.
