Olivia Duque, is "concerned about the loss of subsidies for two Interadministrative Cooperation projects for the renovation of sections of drinking water distribution networks in several urban and rural centers of the municipality, the party anticipates."
“This is one more example of the lack of prioritization shown by the Cabildo with works of maximum necessity, and specifically, in the sectarian policy that is applied to the municipality of Teguise, which is placed at the end of the list in investments”, says Duque.
The works in particular were aimed at improving the water supply in the towns of Los Valles (Bentaiga, Arroró and Andamana streets), Nazaret (Los Loros, Las Perdices, Las Corujas, Los Papagayos, Pavo Real, Las Golondrinas, Los Charranes, Las Pardelas and Los Zarapicos streets) and the scattered areas of Las Cabreras, they confirm.
“We are talking about an investment of more than 562,000 euros that will not see the light of day”, laments Duque.
In addition, there is another batch, valued at more than 468,000 euros, which will also not be executed “due to the administrative process not being completed in a timely manner by the Cabildo”. In this case, the affected locations are Tahíche (El Volcán, Juan Bosch, Garcilado de la Vega and Palacio Valdés streets), Soo (Tomás Rojas and San Juan Evangelista streets), Tao (Doramas street), Teseguite (Garse street) and the Guatiza los Cocoteros section, the party reports.
“The Teguise City Council has complied with the cooperation entrusted to us, but the solution to the supply problems that intermittently threaten many residents of Teguise has been left in the air, because the Cabildo has not done its job by giving it the appropriate speed”, laments the nationalist candidate.
For Olivia Duque, the delays in vital works for Teguise “are once again evident without it seeming to matter to the rulers of the Cabildo”. In this regard, she recalls that the list of areas where the improvement of the water channeling was urgent “was sent to the Island Water Consortium in December 2020”.
According to the complaint, “time continues to pass for works related to the supply water, both for irrigation and for domestic use, while those that are being carried out in the town of Tahíche related to Line 1 are also being carried out without the necessary consensus, imposing measures with arrogance that have later had to be corrected by citizen pressure”.
On the other hand, the candidate is concerned "about the daily cuts that the residents of La Graciosa continue to suffer from four in the afternoon and about the supply problems that have occurred in the town of Tahíche during the execution of the works on the northern pipeline".
“We have been warned that these cuts may have been caused by the machinery in some streets, but instead of replacing these supposedly damaged pipes, they will be paved, because the project management does not take care of the cost of these incidents”, she says.
"It is necessary to abandon confrontation and work responsibly towards the future"
In Duque's words, “it is necessary to abandon confrontation and work responsibly towards the future, opening dialogue between both institutions, to guarantee that this work does not entail short-term problems in the water supply to residents and that it does not mortgage the execution of the Tahíche sanitation plan.”
