The Ministry of Defense has offered 50 new places for the Army unit that will be installed soon in the barracks of Lanzarote. According to the Canary Islands Command in a statement, as a result of a resolution of the Ministry of Defense of March 18, 2017, this Monday, September 4, began the process to select 2,500 new members of the Armed Forces who will soon join the Troop and Seamanship scale.
Within these places, 130 correspond to units of the Canary Islands Command and, among them, 50 places are offered for the Milan XVI Light Armored Cavalry Group that will be installed in Arrecife. In principle, these places are published for the current location of this unit in Marines (Valencia), although with the commitment to transfer to Lanzarote, scheduled for the first half of 2019.
80 places for Gran Canaria, Tenerife and Fuerteventura
The rest of the places of the units of the Canary Islands Command are distributed as follows: 40 for Gran Canaria (Canary Islands Infantry Regiment, Anti-Aircraft Artillery Regiment No. 94, Sappers Battalion XVI and General Headquarters Battalion), 20 for Tenerife (Tenerife Infantry Regiment No. 49 and Field Artillery Regiment No. 93) and another 20 for Fuerteventura in the Soria Infantry Regiment No. 9.
Those interested in obtaining a place can request an appointment until September 25 at the Defense Delegation of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria or at the Subdelegation of Defense of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, where all kinds of information regarding the entrance exams will also be provided. It can also be requested telematically through the website of the Ministry of Defense.
