The president of the Cabildo of La Gomera and spokesman for ASG in the Parliament of the Canary Islands, Casimiro Curbelo, admitted this Friday that there are contacts with the PSOE for a possible electoral confluence in the next regional elections to the point that he does not rule out being the 'number 2' of the current Canary president, Ángel Víctor Torres.
"It would be interesting, very, very interesting, why not," he said in an interview granted to a radio station in the Canary Islands and collected by Europa Press, in which he specified that in his political career he has always been 'number 1' and "never" has opted for Congress, for example. "That is an option and can be reflected on," he indicated.
Curbelo has stressed that ASG is a political organization of insular scope but "with a vocation to grow" and create a future project for the Canary Islands and the negotiations with the PSOE are on "that path", although he has specified that "the best" will be done for the citizens and the organization itself.
He commented that he has held several conversations with Torres throughout the month of August, especially following Pedro Sánchez's vacations in Lanzarote, but also with the general secretary of Coalición Canaria (CC), Fernando Clavijo, and has even exchanged messages with the national president of the PP, Pablo Casado, who visited the island of El Hierro this Thursday. "We all have to be useful to society," he commented.
