National Police agents have arrested a young man in Arrecife, as the alleged perpetrator of the violent death of his father, with whom he lived, after hitting him hard on the head with a blunt object.

The events occurred on November 27, 2025, and the investigation was carried out by the Family and Women Care Unit (UFAM) of the Local Police Station of ArrecifeAt approximately 2:50 PM that same day, the suspect himself appeared at police headquarters stating that he had hit his father on the head and that his father was lying on the floor, unmoving.

Immediately, agents of the National Police went to the family home, located on a street in the capital of Lanzarote, where the victim was assisted by health services and urgently transferred to the Doctor Negrín University Hospital in Gran Canaria, where she eventually died as a consequence of the serious injuries sustained.

The detainee told investigators that the motive for the crime was an alleged sexual assault suffered at the hands of his father the previous night. Consequently, the protocol for sexual offenses was immediately activated, and the on-call forensic doctor was notified. After a medical evaluation, the doctor reported in his assessment that no injuries compatible with a sexual assault with penetration were observed.

Healthcare and police professionals noted that the man presented an incoherent account, with multiple contradictions, manifesting episodes of anxiety, self-harming thoughts, and subjective perceptions without objective backing. For this reason, he was referred to the psychiatry service for clinical evaluation.

The agents carried out a Technical Police Ocular Inspection at the scene, where the weapon used by the arrested individual was found, a large hammer with evident bloodstains.

The young man was initially arrested for attempted homicide, which was later reclassified as completed homicide after the victim's deathIt should be noted that the detainee had already been arrested previously, last summer, for a crime of threats against his own fatherOnce the police proceedings were concluded, the detainee was placed at the disposal of the competent judicial authority, who ordered his immediate provisional imprisonment
