Tinajo and Haría led the drop in unemployment in Lanzarote in 2025

The drop in unemployment in both municipalities triples the declines in Teguise or Tías, while in Yaiza the opposite happened, unemployment rose by 6% in the last year

The two municipalities in Lanzarote where unemployment fell the most in the last year have been Tinajo, which has 17.3% fewer unemployed people than twelve months ago, and Haría, where unemployment has fallen by 15.6%. 

This figure contrasts with the most touristy municipalities such as Yaiza, where unemployment has grown by 6% compared to a year ago. In Teguise and Tías, unemployment did decrease, but more moderately, by 5.6% and 4.4%, respectively.

Unemployment also grew in another municipality in Lanzarote during 2025, it is San Bartolomé, which currently has 3.3% more unemployment than a year ago. 

By age, unemployed people **aged 25 to 44** registered a decrease of 20.7% in Tinajo and 15.9% in Haría, while the group **over 45 years old** decreased by 14.5% in the north and 15.6% in Tinajo.

By gender, unemployment fell among men by 18.2% in Tinajo and 20.3% in Haría, while among women the drop was 16.4% in Tinajo and 10.8% in the north.

The mayor of Haría, Alfredo Villalba, highlighted in a press release that "these results reflect a positive year for the residents, showing the consolidation of employment opportunities in the municipality".

Her Councilor for Employment, Evelia García, has emphasized that "this data shows that training, talent development, and entrepreneurship are key to boosting the employment of our population."
