The Councilor for Youth of the Arrecife City Council, Jacobo Lemes, has pointed out that the altercation that took place this weekend and for which a 19-year-old was transferred to the hospital, "did not take place in the facilities" of the Youth Center, but in its "vicinity". Jacobo Lemes assures that "on several occasions" he has requested "greater police presence" in the vicinity of these municipal facilities and affirms that he will claim it again.
The councilor explains, as La Voz had already indicated, that according to what he has "been able to find out", "the Police were alerted to a scuffle in the vicinity of the Youth Center, not inside it, but when they arrived it had already dispersed and for now there are no complaints".
From the City Council they have pointed out that Lemes also wants to "make a call for calm to the parents". Thus, he has assured that "the activities that take place inside the Youth Center do not pose any danger to young people", although he does consider that, for "security reasons, there should be more police presence in the area, especially at the exit of activities that end at night".
Thus, he emphasizes that he has already requested this previously "on several occasions". "Our young people have the right to participate in the activities of the Youth Center without having to fear possible altercations upon departure and without parents having to worry. Therefore, I will insist again that the police presence in the area be reinforced."
