The Local Police of Arrecife has processed a report detailing a confrontation with the PNL councilor in the City Council, Isabel Martinón. According to that document, the events occurred at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 2, when two agents found a vehicle parked in a prohibited area, in front of the Church of San Ginés.
The car in question had a Parking Authorization card issued by the Arrecife City Council on the windshield, which was not valid in that area, since its use is limited to streets duly marked for it. For that reason, the police proceeded to process the complaint and notify the municipal crane service.
However, while they were still in the area, the agents explain that they were "required by who claims to be the owner of the vehicle", who was none other than Isabel Martinón, councilor of Economy and Finance of the capital Consistory. After identifying herself as a councilor of the City Council, according to the police version, Martinón told them that "she parks it in that place because she is a councilor and there are many badly parked vehicles in the area", even stating that "since the Police never pass by there, they are not used to parking well", and that she "is not to blame for the Police not doing their job well".
The agents maintain that they required her "up to two times" to remove the vehicle, but she "ignored the orders, raising her hands, gesticulating" and "implying that she was not going to remove it". Afterwards, she left the area and the Police processed the complaint and ordered the transfer of the vehicle to the municipal depot. According to the Police report, this same vehicle had already been reported in the same place on two previous occasions, also being transferred to the depot.
