The island secretary of the PSOE of Lanzarote and deputy in Congress, María Dolores Corujo, has called out the Popular Party for its refusal to collaborate in the solidarity distribution of unaccompanied migrant minors. She did so during the Mixed Insularity Commission held this week, in which she criticized that the PP "demands solutions from the State while refusing to assume its part."
Corujo has denounced that the Popular Party, together with Vox, has once again abandoned the Sectoral Commission on Childhood, convened by the Government of Spain to agree on the distribution of minors among autonomous communities. "The Canary Islands are being abandoned while some PP regional presidents block any attempt at fair and humane distribution," she warned.
"What the PP is doing is lack of solidarity and abandoning the Canary Islands, turning its back on its people. They use minors as a tool," the deputy added.
Corujo recalled that the recent reform of the Immigration Law, approved by Congress, establishes a mandatory system of solidarity reception. "The disobedience of some communities not only puts minors at risk, but also undermines the spirit of cooperation that this situation demands," she concluded.
