The PSOE of Lanzarote has denounced this Monday "the complicit silence of the Popular Party and the Canarian Coalition in the face of the offensive and slanderous statements launched by Yonathan de León and Echedey Eugenio against the socialist militants." “When you don't disapprove, you agree. When you don't correct, you share”, said the general secretary of the Lanzarote PSOE and deputy in Congress, María Dolores Corujo.

For the socialists, the facts do not admit nuances:  “PP and CC have had more than enough time to distance themselves from statements that cross the limits of democratic respect. They haven't done it. And when, having that opportunity, you choose to remain silent, you assume political responsibility. We are no longer talking about complicity: we are talking about a conscious choice that places them as directly responsible for a strategy that degrades public life and poisons democratic coexistence.” “They are normalizing insult, lies and hatred as a way of doing politics, and they are doing it with the same strategy as VOX. They no longer differ even in form or substance”, added Corujo.

From the PSOE they warn that "this is not an isolated episode: it is the planned drift of a political bloc that has no scruples or proposals, only mud". “They have decided that the best way to hide their inability to manage is to defame the adversary. And in that drift, PP and CC have ceased to be democratic parties to become loudspeakers for a toxic, degrading and dangerous policy for coexistence”, the note states.

“The socialists are not going to remain silent while our militants are defamed and the institutions are taken to a level of baseness unworthy of a democratic society”. “If PP and CC do not firmly distance themselves, it will be clear that they do not differ in anything from those who live on insult and hatred. And then they will not only be accomplices, they will be responsible”, concluded Corujo.
