The Forum Filatélico and Afinsa scam has affected more than 2,500 people residing in Lanzarote, of which about 1,560 have been attended to at the Consumer Information Office, COCELAN, in order to proceed with the complaint and confirm their appearance in the Central Courts. The rest can continue to submit the contract to the offices throughout the month of September. COCELAN has processed, so far, about 2,150 contracts from the company Forum Filatélico and about a hundred from Afinsa.
Regarding the commercial process of Forum Filatélico, since last Thursday, August 31, the affected people residing in Lanzarote are receiving at their home a certified letter sent by the Bankruptcy Administration of Forum Filatélico, in which the affected people are informed of the data of their contracts, amounts contributed and returns. COCELAN recommends that the communication be reviewed and that if it is correct, it should be notified to the Mercantile Court No. 7 of Madrid. It also recommends making a photocopy for sealing by the post office.
Until September 30, the deadline will be open to make credit communications to the Bankruptcy Administration of Forúm Filatélico. In case there is no agreement with the communicated amounts, they must send the form provided in the same letter, with the correction of the amounts and the appropriate documentation to prove it.
If by mid-September the affected people have not received the certified letter from the Bankruptcy Administration, they should contact the Consumer Information Office COCELAN, to claim it from the responsible entity.
Since May 9, 2006, when the intervention of the companies Forum Filatélico and Afinsa was carried out, the Consumer Information Office has attended free of charge more than two hundred and five thousand requests for information and has advised all the people who have required its services.
The Consumer Information Office of COCELAN offers its services to all consumers of Lanzarote free of charge, at Calle Brasilia nº 9 Arrecife, at the telephone number 928 802. 600 or at www.cocelan.org; [email protected].
