The President of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, noted the good moment of handball on the island of Lanzarote during his visit to the Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen Handball Club, which has achieved promotion to the Women's Gold Division after being proclaimed champions of the Women's Silver Division. He also visited the San José Obrero Handball Club, after its recent promotion to the Men's Silver Division.
With these latest promotions, Lanzarote now has four teams in the second category of handball in Spain: three women's teams in the Gold Division - Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen, San José Obrero women's team and CB Zonzamas - and the San José Obrero men's handball club, in the Men's Silver Division.
The San José Obrero Handball Club of the Titerroy neighborhood, in Arrecife, celebrates its 50th anniversary next season and is doubly congratulated. In addition to reaching this new category, on June 15 in Santander it will receive one of the 2024 National Handball Awards, in the Clubs Category, awarded by the Royal Spanish Handball Federation.
Also present at the meeting were the president of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, the Minister of Universities, Science and Innovation and Culture of the Government of the Canary Islands, Migdalia Machín, and the Deputy Minister of Physical Activity and Sports, Ángel Sabroso.
