Given the predictions of the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), the general directorate of Civil Protection and Emergencies of the Ministry of the Interior has decreed an alert for tomorrow in the Canary Islands due to the risk of heavy rains and gusts of wind that may exceed 95 kilometers per hour.
During the day this Wednesday, rainfall throughout the Archipelago may accumulate up to 150 liters per square meter in twelve hours, while for the specific case of the province of Las Palmas, especially intense rainfall is expected with a forecast of up to 30 liters per square meter per hour.
Given this situation, the agency dependent on the Ministry of the Interior recommends adopting self-protection measures and taking extreme precautions. Also, do not take the car except in exceptional cases and
do not stop in areas where a large amount of water may run.
In the event of strong winds, Civil Protection explains in a statement, it is advisable to stay away from cornices, trees, walls or buildings under construction or cranes that may come off. If you are in areas near the sea, stay away from the beach and other low-lying places that may be affected by high tides and waves.
