The spokesperson for the Canarian Coalition in the Tías City Council, Amado Vizcaíno, denounces the “absolute disconnection of the mayor José Juan Cruz Saavedra with the true needs of our neighbors”, accusing him of “governing with his back to the people and of prioritizing tourist interests over the social urgencies of the municipality.”

Vizcaíno has recalled that the Canarian Coalition presented a motion some time ago requesting an urgent plan to adapt the municipality's playgrounds, many of which are in a worrying state of neglect. “At the time we were happy to hear that almost one million euros would be allocated to that task. Unfortunately, once again, they sold us smoke”, he criticized.

According to the nationalist spokesperson, more than 700,000 euros of that investment will go to quadrupling a playground located in a tourist area, where there are hardly any residents and which, in addition, is already one of the largest and best-preserved parks in the municipality, “except for a part of the pavement that does need repair.”

“What is the point of allocating such an amount to an infrastructure that does not represent a real need, while the parks in the neighborhoods and towns remain abandoned?”, Vizcaíno asks. “Where is the commitment to our families, to the residents who live and raise their children here all year round?”, he adds.

Likewise, the councilor denounces that the mayor "continues to focus on approving a Modernization Plan to allow the construction of new hotels in Puerto del Carmen, while keeping in the drawer since 2019 the General Plan that could unlock land for housing and respond to a growing demand from the local population. It is clear for whom this mayor governs: not for his people, but for external interests”, he affirms.

In this sense, Vizcaíno accuses the government group of "living in a permanent campaign". “First the promises, then the crumbs. In two years, they will come again with empty speeches to try to charm the citizens. But more and more neighbors are waking up, and they are not being fooled”.

The nationalist spokesperson demands a municipal policy focused on people, on the well-being of residents and on the real needs of each population center in the municipality. “Tías cannot continue to be governed from propaganda, but from responsibility and closeness with those who live here all year round”, he asserts.
