The Coalición Canaria group in the Arrecife City Council has presented a motion to the municipal plenary with the intention that the money lost by the Island Council for the Cruise Ship Promenade be invested in works in the Agustín de la Hoz House of Culture and in the remodeling of the Islote de la Fermina.
The economic fund, of more than 900,000 euros, was constituted as a subsidy from the Ministry of Tourism of the Government of the Canary Islands for the realization of the works in the new Cruise Ship Promenade in the Port of Los Mármoles. From the Island Council, the procedure for obtaining that subsidy was not launched in time, which unleashed the indignation of the Minister of Tourism, Rita Martín, from Lanzarote, who declared at the time that "it was a negligence on the part of the vice president and Minister of Public Works Fabián Martín".
As a result, the Ministry of Tourism of the Canary Islands Government offered an alternative to recover that subsidy for another work, decided by the Island Council, on the island. For this reason, Coalición Canaria in the capital's town hall is committed to this aid financing the works of the Agustín de la Hoz House of Culture and the remodeling of the facilities of the Islote de la Fermina.
The nationalists state that "the Agustín de la Hoz House of Culture needs a new investment to definitively conclude the conditioning of the space, an emblematic place of the society of Arrecife, which represents the cultural icon".
Similarly, "the Islote de la Fermina, which due to its poor maintenance, contains deficiencies that must be corrected before it is put into operation and which also represents a unique tourist space of this Capital, add from Coalición Canaria in Arrecife.
The political group affirms that "in these moments where any economic fund is of vital importance to improve our infrastructures as well as for the generation of employment". "It is necessary that the City Council puts all the means at its disposal so that the money that has been offered to the island of Lanzarote, is destined to the municipality with more needs", indicate from CC.
