The Extraordinary Assembly of the Local Committee of the Canarian Coalition in Tinajo re-elected this Thursday, October 13, with 99% of the votes, Jesús Machín as a candidate for Mayor of said City Council in the elections of May 2023.
Machín, after thanking the committee to which he belongs for its support and trust, stated that “I have the same enthusiasm as the first day. I have been the mayor of Tinajo for a long time and if I am clear about something, it is that the neighbors come first, that they are above everything, and that the problems are not solved in offices, but in the street and going house to house whenever they need me.”
In this way, reaffirming his commitment to maintain direct contact with the residents of the municipality and continue to address the most immediate needs in socio-health, cultural, educational, youth, sports and leisure matters, Machín faces the challenge of achieving what would be his sixth absolute majority.
“We are a great family and that is what differentiates the Canarian Coalition from other projects”, he stated during his speech, in which he thanked each and every one of the people who have been part of his team over the past two decades.
Thus, after emphasizing that Tinajo has become a benchmark in citizen service services, Jesús Machín announced that his objective is to continue along the same lines, reinforcing the work already done.
"A job that, it must be remembered, has responded to the needs of the residents of the municipality with different programs such as the home help service, the children's program, food bank, social emergency aid, care for the elderly, etcetera," he added.
The event, held at the Mancha Blanca Sociocultural Center, was attended by the island secretary of CC in Lanzarote, Migdalia Machín, and the local secretary of Tinajo, Luis Miguel Pérez, as well as the rest of the local secretaries of the different committees, the secretary general of the JNL, Maciot Cabrera, the candidates for the mayorships of San Bartolomé and Yaiza, David Rocío and Emilio Machín, respectively, the deputy spokesperson for the Nationalist Group in the Cabildo, Pedro San Ginés, and other public and organic positions of the nationalist formation on the island.
In her speech, Migdalia Machín highlighted that “Tinajo is a clear example that face-to-face politics works, the councilors together with the mayor practice a policy of closeness on a daily basis. That is what has made us different from the rest of the parties all this time. The citizens know it and that is why they trust the Canarian Coalition mandate after mandate”.
Likewise, she recalled that the Canarian Coalition is running in the elections to govern and detailed some of the many advances achieved. Such is the case of the Wrestling Field or the Vegueta court, the improvement of roads such as the one that connects Las Malvas and Tenézar, the one in La Santa or the one in the cemetery. “Tinajo now has a building for Civil Protection, the provision of health services has been increased with the new Health Center and the surroundings of La Isleta de La Santa have been improved and conditioned, among many other things”, added the nationalist leader.
However, Migdalia Machín emphasized that the municipality continues to suffer from serious problems, including the situation of the La Santa shelter. “We have another four years ahead of us to continue demanding that the PSOE in the Cabildo, in the Government and in the State begin to assume its responsibilities in immigration matters. Tinajo has grown, there is no doubt, but it is only a municipality with limited resources and cannot allocate them all to resolving and addressing the migration problem.”
The local secretary of the Canarian Coalition in Tinajo, Luis Miguel Pérez, also spoke, who after a few words of thanks and affection “to all those affiliated people who accompanied us along the way and who are no longer here”, stated that having known how to combine experience and youth is what has always given the nationalist formation an advantage in the municipality.
“We have young, enthusiastic, prepared people who want Tinajo to continue being a leading municipality and Suso is the mayor of the town, the one who represents the values of neighborhood politics like no one else, always on the front line”, he stressed.
Pérez also recalled that although it is true that the pandemic meant a slowdown in the projects for the municipality, “the challenge of getting up to date with everything we could not do in that time is a further boost to face the next elections with great enthusiasm.”
Tinajo thus becomes the fifth committee to start its electoral career. The Canarian Coalition continues with the calendar approved by the Insular Political Council, which marks the process of electing candidates to the different administrations in their different organic areas, with a view to the elections of May 2023.
