Coalition Canaria in San Bartolomé and its local secretary, David Rocío, have demanded "support" for the Civil Guard, "with the aim of reinforcing security measures in the municipality." The mayor asks that these troops be assigned "especially in rural areas, so that the current troops are not saturated and all areas of our municipal limits are covered." His claim comes just days after the violent assault on a house in the La Florida area, which has shocked the residents of the island. In fact, as a result of what happened, the Municipality's Police Councilor has already asked the local police to reinforce their presence in that area.
Now, the nationalists are asking to "reinforce the staff" of the Civil Guard by increasing the number of troops, as well as "improving the conditions of the vehicles and the necessary material to carry out their surveillance work, focusing on rural areas." "In recent years, due to state cuts, sufficient troop places have not been announced to cover the demands of the Civil Guard on the island, therefore we hope that soon, given the needs, we can count on new agents," the formation claims.
"From the local committee of Coalición Canaria in San Bartolomé we also give a nod to the Canarian Police, although we know that the competence to ensure security in rural areas belongs to the Civil Guard," Rocío points out.
As the Municipality's Local Police Councilor already did, his government partner also emphasizes that "the cases of vandalism in the municipality are isolated events." Rocío also points out that "the civic spirit that is breathed in the municipality is commendable", but, despite this, he points out that "the assessment of expanding security" in San Bartolomé "for the tranquility and security of all residents" is "not ruled out".
