The decision of the Government of the Canary Islands to completely discard the alternative of burying the LZ-2 as it passes through Playa Honda and instead turn that section, between Argana and the airport, into a boulevard with reduced traffic that would pass behind the industrial and commercial area of Playa Honda, has been described by the CC group in the San Bartolomé City Council as "an absolute lack of respect", not only towards the municipality "but towards the entire island".
For David Rocío, spokesperson for the nationalists, it is not understood "why they are so afraid of having all possible alternatives analyzed jointly".
“The Minister of Public Works, Transport and Housing, Sebastián Franquis, must think we are stupid”, says Rocío, who highlights: “
From Coalición Canaria, they denounce that not only is the insistence on not opting for burial not understood, but neither is "the refusal of the Minister and the Area he directs to meet with the opposition of San Bartolomé", despite having officially requested it on May 27, after the celebration of the plenary session in which the municipal government rejected "an institutional agreement that included the commitment to the burial of all political groups".
"It must be remembered that of the seven alternatives included in the feasibility report, six study and assess different formulas for burying the road and only one contemplates the construction of a road", point out the nationalists, who add that none of the seven alternatives concludes "with a report against it".
"This means that technically and financially all are viable. However, the one chosen by the Government, that is, building a new road, is the one that makes the least sense”, Rocío emphasizes.
"We are going to continue defending what is best for the people who live in Playa Honda and so that companies return to invest in the industrial and commercial area that we were just a few years ago, whether the PSOE likes it or not. We will take whatever measures are necessary”, says the councilor.
