The Nationalist Group (CC-PNC) in the Arrecife City Council will request the appearance in the Plenary Session of the Corporation of the Councilor for the Employment Area, Rosario González, to explain "how is it possible that with the serious economic situation that is going through at the moment, the capital Consistory has to return" almost 60,000 euros from an Employment Plan, "for not having been able to execute it in its entirety".
After learning of the decree signed last Friday, May 14, which "obliges the return of said amount to the Canarian Employment Service", the nationalists consider "a total absurdity and irresponsibility, that it is necessary to proceed to the reimbursement of money that could have given a job opportunity to many people in the city who need it at this time".
"It is inconceivable that, with the way things are, the government group allows itself to return almost 60,000 that could have helped many people who are having a really bad time for months,” said the nationalist spokesperson, Echedey Eugenio. “We want it to be explained to us where the error has been and that the responsibility of those who receive a public salary and do not do their job is assumed,” he added.
According to CC, the project called Arrecife Emple@ 2019 was signed for a total amount of 610,800.88 euros "of which Arrecife has had to return 57,123.02 due to its inability to manage it, after the City Council joined it in November 2019, with said subsidy being granted in December and having to be executed during the year 2020". That is, “in the worst times of the pandemic, Arrecife lost the opportunity to provide a solution to many families who have been having a bad time,” Eugenio stressed.
The nationalists believe that with this type of action, "it is once again highlighted that the capital Consistory continues without taking care of or worrying about what is truly important and that the lack of municipal management continues to shine due to its absence.
CC has also requested access to the entire administrative file and awaits both the delivery of the same and the appearance of the responsible councilor "to request and propose measures to prevent Arrecife from continuing to lose public funds, which could help our neighbors in such complicated times, when the city's unemployment data indicate that the municipal political line should be precisely the opposite.”
