The councilors of the Canarian Coalition (CC) and the Party of Independents of Lanzarote (PIL) in the municipality of San Bartolomé decided to definitively distance themselves from the agreement signed with the Socialist Party (PSOE) to govern in that municipality, and opted instead to confirm the reissue of the pact with the Popular Party (PP) and the support for the mayor Miguel Martín of the Canarian Nationalist Center (CCN).

Juan Antonio de la Hoz (CC), Ángela Aparicio Hernández (CC), Candelaria Ledesma (PIL) and Carlos Martín Machado (PIL) made public a statement in which they hold the PSOE of San Bartolomé responsible, exempting the socialist island leadership, for not facilitating the conditions that would allow governability in the municipality. According to the signatories, the pact could not be made effective, after a month of constant meetings, due to the non-compliance and irresponsibility of the socialists.

"The parties to the agreement have decided to close the crisis and provide solutions by reissuing the previously signed pact, which had governed with total stability to date, considering this the most appropriate situation for the interests of San Bartolomé," the press release says verbatim.

The councilors assure that the PSOE did not want to make any agreement effective and as proof they recall that on June 6, at the Hotel Lancelot, when the closed pact for the island Council, Arrecife and San Bartolomé was made public, all the councilors who would be part of these new governments were present except for the PSOE councilors in San Bartolomé.

They also reveal that a day later, Juan Antonio de la Hoz, Candelaria Ledesma, Miguel Martín, Andrés Stinga (spokesperson for the PSOE) and Antonio Rocío (PSOE) met and put on the negotiating table of the future pact for San Bartolomé, the resignation of Miguel Martín, conditioned to the fulfillment of the pact with the mayoralty for CC or the PIL, giving 12 hours to make it effective, if the crisis was caused as it was presupposed by the presence of Martín at the head of the Mayor's Office. The councilors of the CC and PIL affirm that the PSOE did not comply with what was agreed that day, and the negotiations returned to the starting point.

Likewise, they warn of their constant calls for meetings, with the PSOE not appearing at any of them or their councilors being unlocatable, so on Wednesday the 22nd, Juan Antonio de la Hoz, spokesperson for CC, met with the monitoring table of the island pact to force the PSOE to hold the relevant meetings and thus close the crisis in San Bartolomé once and for all. That day they managed to meet again, but, they say, that once again they corroborated that the PSOE group in San Bartolomé was not going to reach any agreement.

The councilors of CC and PIL congratulate the members of the PSOE, PIL and CC in the island Council and Arrecife for having shown seriousness and responsibility guaranteeing the stability of their institutions, and thank the island leadership of the PSOE for trying to solve the crisis.

The councilors of CC and PIL in San Bartolomé state that after having tried to comply with the island agreement for the governability of the City Council, it is decided, a month after the start of negotiations, to reissue the pact previously signed, "so in San Bartolomé the crisis was closed for all purposes on June 30, hoping to continue governing with the same efficiency until the next local elections."
