Carmen Rosa Pérez, councilor in the Consistory and current councilor of Economic Promotion of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, was elected on Friday night as president of the Local Committee. Pérez had the unanimous support of the members of the municipality and the support and encouragement of the island president, Astrid Pérez, the public officials of the party in different corporations as well as a large group of supporters and members.
Carmen Rosa Pérez was excited about the new stage that the Popular Party is opening in her municipality and by the colleagues who will be part of the Committee. In this sense, Pérez stressed that it is "a large group of young people who have recently joined the PP project, bringing vitality, desire to work and many proposals, and also, other less young, historical members of the party, who transmit their knowledge and experience to us"; aspects that the newly elected president considers key to advancing the implementation of the Popular Party as an alternative to the current government. "It is not a utopia, it is possible and it will be a reality sooner rather than later," she said.
During her speech at the assembly, Carmen Rosa Pérez also analyzed the management carried out by the government of Suso Machín and stated that "the residents of this municipality deserve another way of governing, a transparent, clear, rigorous and honest government". The councilor of the Popular Party in the City Council believes that it is time to end the populist and demagogic management that nationalists have developed in Tinajo for so many years.
Carmen Rosa Pérez stressed that this way of handling public affairs has ended up mortgaging the residents with a bank debt of 5 million euros and a recognized debt with suppliers of more than 2 million. "An economic situation," she said, "is absolutely unsustainable for a municipality of only 5,600 inhabitants."
Finally, the new president of the Local Committee made herself available to the residents and announced that the headquarters of the Popular Party of Tinajo, located on the main avenue of the town, will always have its doors open to the participation of all.
