The general secretary of the Socialists of Lanzarote, Carlos Espino, has shown his satisfaction upon learning that the CEO of the Centers of Art, Culture and Tourism (CACT) of the Cabildo, Astrid Pérez, will take to the Board of Directors the approval to exercise legal actions against him.
According to the agenda of the session, which is held extraordinarily to discuss the draft budget, the complaint against Carlos Espino responds to his management during the time he held the position of CACT counselor. According to the socialists, "in the documentation provided to the members of the control body, no information or evidence of the alleged irregularities of which he is accused is provided".
Espino, who will attend the meeting in substitution of Isabel Martín Tenorio, who on that date is out of the island, has declared that "only from the moment the complaint is official, if it finally obtains the support of the Council, I will be able to defend myself from the constant accusations, falsehoods and slanders with which Pérez has presented me since she took charge of the Centers".
To date, the former CACT counselor has requested in writing on two occasions the evidence of the alleged irregularities committed in the exercise of his position, denounced by Astrid Pérez in the media. "However, she has never sent me documentation; she has never asked me for explanations about the reasons for this or that decision. She has limited herself to launching indefinite accusations against me, without allowing me to defend either my work or my honesty."
The presentation in the Courts of the long-announced complaint is, in the opinion of the socialist, "the only way that will allow me to demonstrate the integrity of my work at the head of the company."
In any case, Espino assures that "when it is proven that the legal actions exercised by Astrid Pérez against him are not supported and respond to political interests, he will demand accountability before the Justice system. If the counselor used half the energy she dedicates to me to do her job, there would still be hope for the Tourist Centers", assures the socialist.
"However, -he adds-, it is easier for Pérez to prevent the avalanche of criticism of her ineptitude by accusing me of being to blame for all the ills of the Centers, both past and future."
