With the votes in favor of the PIL, PNL, and PP, the abstention of Coalición Canaria, and the vote against of Alternativa Ciudadana and the Partido Socialista, the motion of censure against Enrique Pérez Parrilla has passed, making the popular Cándido Reguera the mayor.
The thirteen favorable votes, including those of José Miguel Rodríguez and Ubaldo Becerra, have given the majority to the new government group, which has been received with applause and shouts of "down with corruption" by a divided public that crowds the plenary hall.
After the vote, Cándido Reguera took the floor, in his first speech as mayor, assuring that he was not going to have a "tense tone." Regarding the criticisms that this motion of censure has received, supported by two councilors who are not only accused in Operation "Unión", but also confessed to the judge to have received bribes, Reguera has assured that "the walls of the City Council will be made of glass", and that the hiring and all the actions of the Consistory will be monitored.
