A political-technical delegation headed by the Councilor for Historical Heritage of the Cabildo, Carmen Rosa Márquez, the Councilor for Urban Planning, Samuel Martín, and the Councilor for Roads and Works, Manuel Hernández, visited the building known as Casa del Cabrerón this Thursday morning.

The property, located in El Lomo and dating from 1887, has served as a hospital, orphanage, military installation during the Civil War, school and residence and has been abandoned for years. The visit responds to the unanimous decision of the Arrecife City Council to support the initiative presented by the Adey Glaguen Association, aimed at recovering the building for public cultural use.

During the plenary session, the different political interventions pointed to the importance of preserving the movable and immovable heritage of Arrecife and the commitment to extend the protection of urban elements with historical or ethnographic values that are still preserved.

Both the mayor, Eva de Anta, and the Councilor for Urban Planning, Samuel Martín, recalled the upcoming launch of a municipal Heritage Commission which, in coordination with the island-wide Commission, will report, advise and promote actions to protect the capital's legacy.
