"Pedro San Ginés could dedicate himself to pyrotechnics, because he is an expert in launching fireworks and talking about the benefits of his management in the Cabildo of Lanzarote." This was expressed by the Ciudadanos (C's) councilor in the Island Corporation, Benjamín Perdomo, during the celebration of the Plenary session this Tuesday, in which the budgets for 2017 have been approved with the vote in favor of the government team, the abstention of Nueva Canarias and the rejection of the rest of the groups in the opposition.

Perdomo has stated that "the president does nothing but applaud himself saying that the budgets for this year will be historic." However, the representative of Ciudadanos has drawn attention to the fact that the budgets "have been presented again out of time" and "include the same investments as in previous years".

According to Perdomo, "the government team has been on a stationary bicycle for a long time", since "they move and say they do a lot, but the reality is that they don't advance." For the Ciudadanos councilor, "this comparison is especially evident in the issue of budgets".

FDCAN Funds and Job List

In this sense, he has cited as an example "the serious problem they face with the FDCAN funds if they are not able to execute it", and has lamented that "it is very likely that they will not be able to carry it out", because "they do not have projects or a plan of what the island should be".

The C's councilor has also referred to "the Job List (RPT) that is still not coming out", and has explained that "it is clear that the corporation has little interest in it being approved, since it can control certain sectors", which also contributes "to perpetuating the scourge of clientelism in the corporation".

He has also criticized "the inability of the government team to carry out the three clean points to be executed on the island (Teguise, Tinajo and Haría)". Perdomo added that "it is very likely that the same thing will happen with the Olympic swimming pool to which they are going to allocate 500,000 euros for its construction".

Finally, the Cs representative has lamented that "the plenary has rejected the demands presented by C's aimed at improving the budgets and carrying out viable projects", such as "the reconversion of the island's architectural heritage or the promotion of educational projects in schools and institutes on the island".
