The Arrecife City Council will launch a new municipal work to change the environment of La Arena beach, near the Castle of San José and the Muelle de Los Mármoles. This beach is very popular with residents in nearby neighborhoods, such as Valterra, Los Alonso, Lloret and Altavista.

The mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, and the councilor for Beaches and the Environment, Davinia Déniz, visited the start of these works on Tuesday morning, which are part of the Municipal Plan to modernize the maritime front of the capital of Lanzarote.

For the mayor, this new work by the Department of Public Works "will allow greater accessibility to the entire area of La Arena beach, which after the works will have a shower and footbath service, new night lighting, and better green areas with the installation of a new underground irrigation network."

The Councilor for Beaches, Davinia Déniz, has remarked that “with the investment, new public services will be provided to this beach, which will allow many users to make good use of this natural beach where families enjoy their free time. Providing accessibility to the beach area is making it possible for spaces and places by the sea to have fewer barriers,” the councilor highlighted.

The work to restore the environment and the promenade next to La Arena Beach also includes new exterior lighting for the promenade, as well as the elimination of existing architectural barriers.

From the Consistory “we have as a priority the care and modernization of the maritime front of the coast. Through different phases and areas we have intervened in El Reducto, and now we are doing it during this second semester of the year in this other end of the capital. In this mandate there will be many improvements in different areas of Arrecife, both in the center and in the city's neighborhoods,” emphasized the first mayor.
