The mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, together with the councilor of Beaches and Environment, Davinia Déniz, have visited the project that the Arrecife City Council has underway in the surroundings of La Arena beach, near the Castle of San José.

The Arrecife City Council has underway, through the Departments of Public Works and Beaches and Environment, respectively, a new municipal work to give a good change to the surroundings of La Arena beach. This beach is very frequented by residents in nearby neighborhoods, such as Valterra, Los Alonso, Lloret and Altavista.

The works began this past summer, and the mayor has announced, after this recent visit, that, in the first quarter of 2025, users will be able to enjoy the new public services that have been provided to this beach, which also improves its accessibility and restores its pedestrian promenade, which connects the Los Mármoles area with the Castle of San José. This investment, endowed with almost half a million euros, is integrated into the Municipal Plan to modernize the seafront of the capital of Lanzarote, which in recent months has been giving a good change in several of its sections.

For the mayor, this new work of the Department of Public Works, under his direct direction, in close cooperation with the Area of Beaches and Environment, "will provide accessibility to the entire environment of La Arena beach, which after the works will have a shower and footbath service, new night lighting, and better green areas with the installation of a new underground irrigation network." The municipal intervention is also making possible the renovation of the paving in a wide section of the pedestrian promenade.

The Councilor for Beaches, Davinia Déniz, has detailed that "with the investment, new public services are installed on this beach, which will allow the many users to make good use of this natural beach where families enjoy their free time. The beach, after the works, will have accessibility to the sandy area, eliminating the barriers that existed until now."

The work of restoring the environment and the promenade next to La Arena Beach also contemplates new exterior lighting of the promenade, as well as the elimination of existing architectural barriers in the city's neighborhoods," emphasized the mayor.

Actions with an investment of 500,000 euros

With this project next to La Arena beach, showers and footbaths are being installed on the beach, as well as the placement of new street furniture, the renovation of the pavement in the perimeter of the pedestrian promenade that connects the Castle of San José with Los Mármoles, and new gardening elements.

The company Transporte y Excavaciones Tiagua is in charge of carrying out the work. It has a period of six months for the interventions in its environment. The City Council has had the mandatory favorable reports from the Heritage Area as it is in the area of influence of the Castle of San José.
