Arrecife will create a working commission to welcome refugees fleeing the war

The City Council will make an inventory of municipal resources to make them available to the Government of Spain and offer a "coordinated and effective" response to the humanitarian crisis?

The Arrecife City Council approved this Tuesday in plenary session to join the institutional declaration made in September by the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP), in which it was agreed to house people fleeing the war in their countries of origin. The City Council will now create a commission, in charge of determining what resources the city has to welcome those fleeing the war.

The document reflects the humanitarian crisis experienced by thousands of people who have been forced to leave their places of origin, victims of terror and fear, and who seek refuge in Europe. Faced with this drama, the FEMP ratified a few months ago its role as an interlocutor between the Government of Spain and the local administrations in charge of making a single inventory of their resources. This inventory will be provided to the Government of Spain, which in turn will be responsible for locating the refugees in the different provinces.

As a preliminary step to the preparation of the inventory, the Arrecife City Council will create a working commission in which all the political forces with representation in the Arrecife City Council will be integrated. This commission will be in charge of presenting to the Plenary of the Corporation the "detailed" study of the resources of the City Council that will be delivered to the FEMP.
