The Arrecife City Council has awarded, for an amount of 1,389,008.79 euros, the works of adaptation and legalization of the 44 playgrounds and bio-healthy areas in the neighborhoods and schools of the municipality. The project has been presented by the mayor of Arrecife, Astrid Pérez, at a press conference, accompanied by the Councilor for Playgrounds, Ángela Hernández,
The City Council points out that the company Galitec Desarrollos Tecnológicos, S.L, is the successful bidder for two of the lots offered and in a third it goes in a temporary joint venture with Eulogio Viñal, Obras y Servicios; while the fourth will be executed by the company Savia Proyectos y Mantenimiento, S.L”. In addition, they add that the execution of said Plan “will have a maximum period of 20 weeks after the signing of the contract and once the site survey report is presented.”
The mayor of Arrecife has detailed in detail “the actions that will be carried out in all the playgrounds in order to legalize them and adapt the facilities to the regulations of the Canary Islands Accessibility Law, while they will be conditioned so that they can be enjoyed with all the security and health measures”
"The playgrounds have deteriorated over the years and until the arrival of this government team no action had been taken to renovate them, which not only posed a danger to users but also a bad image of the city,” said the mayor, who explained that “the successful bidders must, among many other works, dismantle and remove the play elements in poor condition, place the new ones and anchor them in a cushioned pavement floor.”
The renovation of these public spaces, according to the City Council, “is an urgent need for Arrecife, which is included within an Urban Infrastructure Rehabilitation Plan that also contemplates the evacuation of rainwater in the areas where they are located, as well as the placement of furniture, repair of walls and perimeter fences, or generic signage with the indications established by law.”
With this project for the renovation of playgrounds and bio-healthy areas, they add that “a solution is also provided to the lack of adequate infrastructure for students from the different public schools in the capital: Argana Alta, Nieves Toledo, Capellanía de Yágabo, Adolfo Topham, Antonio Zerolo, Benito Méndez, Los Geranios Titerroy and Argana.”
Apart from the playgrounds in neighborhoods and schools, the Arrecife City Council details that “a Street Workout or Calisthenics training park will also be installed at the tip of the Camel in the Arrecife Theme Park, which together with the one already located in the Charco de San Ginés complements this type of furniture for outdoor sports practice.”
The City Council details that the distribution of playgrounds and bio-healthy areas, in which these works will be carried out, is made up of 29 playgrounds, 9 parks in public schools, 5 bio-healthy areas and a calisthenics area.
