The Arrecife City Council approved in the last plenary session held on July 25 the new ordinances for the granting of sports subsidies to clubs and athletes for the promotion of grassroots sports. In that plenary session, the new municipal ordinance was also approved with which the Department of Sports promotes the organization of sports events in the capital of the island.

The Department of Sports of Arrecife, led by Councilor Eli Merino, publishes in this Friday's edition of August 1, the new ordinances, both for the promotion of grassroots sports, as well as the subsidies, in a competitive competition regime, for the organization of sports events in the municipality, and that the City Council considers of interest.

The publication of these ordinances at the beginning of this month of August is planned so that athletes, clubs and organizers of sports events have the bases that will allow them to apply for the subsidies promoted by the Department of Sports for the next 2025/2026 sports season.

The councilor has highlighted that with the articles of these bases, a more agile ordinance is provided that will speed up the calls and the delivery of sports subsidies, with the legal aspects contemplated by the legislation on public subsidies, in a competitive competition regime.

This Friday's BOP specifies the two new ordinances, which will remain on public display for the next 30 days.

The first of the ordinances regulates "the subsidies to be granted by the Department of Sports of the Arrecife City Council for the granting and justification of subsidies in a competitive competition regime, for the organization of sports events considered of interest to the municipality of Arrecife. Second. Submit the aforementioned ordinance to public information and hearing of interested parties, with publication in the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas and the City Council's notice board, for a period of thirty days so that they can present claims or suggestions, which will be resolved by the Corporation."

And the other ordinance published today in the Official Gazette of the Province, by the Arrecife City Council, in sports matters, regulates "the regulatory bases for the subsidies to be granted by the Department of Sports of the Arrecife City Council for the granting and justification of competitive competition subsidies for the promotion of grassroots sports and competitive sports to schools and sports entities."
