The PSOE (Spanish Socialist Workers' Party) of Arrecife has denounced that the island's capital is among the cities with the worst urban well-being indicators, a reflection, according to the socialists, of the lack of management and planning by the municipal government group.

The Socialist councilor in the City Council, Cristina Duque, has stated that the reality of Arrecife "supports what the PSOE has been warning for some time: a completely abandoned city, without direction and without projects that improve the quality of life of its residents."

"Arrecife still lacks cultural, leisure, or sports infrastructure, or green spaces that allow people to enjoy public space. Mobility is disastrous for people, and we don't even have a municipal library in neighborhoods as populated as Argana," Duque stressed.

The Socialist councilwoman also lamented the neglect of the neighborhoods, citing Tinasoria as an example, "where residents are still waiting for the completion of remodeling works promised years ago."

A government that has given up on building a city

"For the plans that Yonathan de León has in continuous binges without thinking about the present or the future of the people of Arrecife," Duque added.

Cristina Duque also insisted that Arrecife lacks public transportation adapted to population growth, which exacerbates mobility problems and disconnection between neighborhoods.

"Urban deterioration, the lack of public services, and the absence of planning reflect a government that has given up on building a city. Arrecife needs a serious government, with a vision for the future and committed to the people," Duque concluded.
