The mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, has signed the decree by which the City Council will offer a free urban bus service, through a shuttle, to facilitate mobility during the celebration of the two Day Carnivals, which are celebrated on Saturdays, February 22 and March 1 in Puerto de Naos.
From the Department of Mobility and Transport, led by Councilor Mario González Altube, a special service of the Urban Buses of Arrecife has been established, through a continuous shuttle, which will travel along the seafront of the capital of Lanzarote during these two Saturdays of Day Carnival.
The buses will operate between 2:00 p.m. on Saturday and 2:00 a.m. on Sunday. This new shuttle service, especially for these two carnival Saturdays, will operate from the stops of the Bus Interchange (next to the theme park in El Reducto, passing through the stops of the Gran Hotel, Arrecife City Council, and Puerto de Naos, in the area next to the Monument to the Victims of the Cruz del Mar.
The establishment of this circuit, as highlighted by Councilor Mario González, aims to ensure that "citizens use public transport during these two Saturdays, parking vehicles in the large parking lots next to the esplanade of the Theme Park, and the municipal lot next to Ginory, in the Charco de San Ginés, a few steps from Puerto de Naos, which will be the epicenter of the Arrecife carnival in 2025".
Mayor Yonathan de León, and the Councilor for Mobility and Transport, announce that this free service, which is being implemented as a pilot experience, "is in line with the Municipal Government's goal of promoting the use of public transport." Last December, the City Council premiered two new large electric buses, and for this 2025, another 4 large units are planned, also electric.
