The Arrecife City Council, through the Department of Culture, has paid the competitive concurrence subsidies for the promotion of culture that were awarded last December.
The mayor of Arrecife, Astrid Pérez, has highlighted the importance of these aids, which "are fundamental for the cultural development of our city and for the support of high-quality cultural projects".
For her part, the Councilor for Culture, Abigail González, highlighted that "the fact that these subsidies have been granted, after two years without aid, is a clear indication of the importance that culture has for this government. I want to congratulate all the beneficiaries of the subsidies and wish them every success in their cultural projects. I am sure that their work will enrich the cultural life of Arrecife."
As will be recalled, the purpose of the subsidies is the promotion of culture among the citizens of Arrecife, being of special interest and an indispensable requirement that the actions or projects are linked to the promotion of traditional culture, cultural expressions or the performing arts.
Regarding the first of the aforementioned axes, the promotion of traditional culture, activities related to the promotion of the culture of the city, island or autonomous community of the Canary Islands were subsidized, such as folklore workshops, traditional instrumentation classes, talks, workshops for the creation of typical products of traditional Canarian culture such as openwork, or traditional clothing, among others.
On the promotion of cultural expressions, the aid is intended for activities or events related to culture in general, such as painting, literary creation or editing, plastic and analogous arts.
Thirdly, with regard to the promotion of the performing arts, projects related to theater, dance, performance and other similar projects have been subsidized.
