The Department of Social Welfare, Immigration and Equality of the Arrecife City Council, led by Maite Corujo, is organizing the second session of the Arrecife Avanza Conference, which aims to "continue providing professionals in public administration and third sector entities with the necessary tools to bring immigration regulations closer to citizens," explains the head of the aforementioned areas.

Also open to people interested in resources aimed at foreigners, this new session - a continuation of the one held last May - will take place next Thursday, October 9 at the Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, and will be held under the title 'Bringing immigration regulations closer to professionals in the social field'. Registrations are made through the link.

With almost 40% of the resident population coming from some other place on the planet in search of improving their living conditions, and with more than 100 nationalities on its register of inhabitants, "Arrecife is a welcoming city and as such presents a diverse reality, which is why it is urgent to promote an inclusive public policy, where the importance of knowing and understanding the migratory phenomenon in our city, as well as its repercussions, prevails, in order to adapt municipal intervention to the social reality," says Maite Corujo.

New regulations

In this context, the Councilor for Social Welfare, Immigration and Equality of the Arrecife City Council stresses that with the recent entry into force of the new regulations on the rights and freedoms of people from other countries and their social integration, "it is extremely relevant to know the regularization procedures, so the explanation, updating and improvement of the understanding of the regulations will be one of the main objectives of this session."

'Types of documentation for foreigners', 'Information and analysis of the application with the latest reform of the immigration regulations', 'Other procedures of a practical nature', 'Relevant aspects and access to health promotion' and 'Approach to international protection and refuge, and procedure for their applications' are the headings of this second part of the 'Arrecife Avanza' Conference, which will feature the participation of representatives of the Government Delegation of the Canary Islands and Loueila Sid Ahmed, a prominent jurist in the field of immigration.
