The Department of Education of the Arrecife City Council, led by Abigail González, continues with its "commitment to improve the educational infrastructures of the municipality." Thus, within the framework of the Arrecife 2024 Social Employment Program, financed by the Government of the Canary Islands through the Comprehensive Employment Plan of the Canary Islands and Sector Conference Funds, various works are being carried out in different schools in the capital of Lanzarote.
During the first week of execution of the project, a new security fence has been installed at the CEIP La Destila at the exit to El Daute street, and the granite detached from the facade has been repaired and replaced. The removal and replacement of the fences in the children's playground has also been carried out, and the opening of a corridor to improve the accessibility of the center; and in the elevator shaft, after cleaning, two coats of product have been applied for its proper conservation.
At the CEIP Antonio Zerolo, work has been done on the removal of slats from the windows and the installation of anti-pigeon spikes, in order to avoid accumulations of birds and improve the health of the environment.
These works are part of an action plan that will continue in the rest of the municipality's schools, with the purpose of guaranteeing safe and adequate infrastructures for the educational development of the boys and girls of Arrecife.
The Councilor for Education, Abigail González, has highlighted that "thanks to the Arrecife 2024 Social Employment Program, essential improvements are being achieved in educational centers, responding to the needs transferred by the management team of each center and, in turn, generating employment for people in vulnerable situations."
Likewise, she stressed that "our obligation is that all schools in Arrecife are safe and adequate spaces for learning, so we are going to continue working along those lines, addressing and responding to all those issues that are within our competence."
