The mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, presided over the extraordinary Local Security Board where the security plan was presented to coordinate security and deployments during the celebration of the carnival of the capital of Lanzarote, which will have its most intense activity this weekend, and next week with the Carnival Parade, on Monday, 4th, and the Burial of the Sardine, on Wednesday, March 5th.
Yonathan de León, as mayor and direct head of the Local Police, informs that the city has for these carnivals of 2025 with a special deployment, made up of more than 60 police officers, which reinforce the security of these carnivals, which during this weekend is expected to be very intense, with the second Day carnival, and the celebration of the Parade, on Monday 3rd, and the Burial of the Sardine, on Wednesday, March 5th.
The first mayor of Arrecife has detailed that "this great police deployment is made up of agents of the Local Police and National Police, together with the Civil Protection forces, attached to the Department of Security and Emergencies, directed by the councilor Kevin Cortés".
The mayor has highlighted "the important work carried out by the volunteers of the Civil Protection Unit for their support and presence in these events, as well as all the sanitary personnel, and personnel of Roads and Works, plus other Municipal Areas, for the cuts and preventions in the public roads, foreseen in the Security Plan that is established for an alert level 4 established, and still in force, by the Ministry of the Interior for the entire Spanish territory".
In addition, and for the second consecutive year, the Video Camera control system, which operates from the central headquarters of the Local Police, reinforces this surveillance and security by allowing real-time actions.
From Civil Protection, emphasizes the Councilor for Security and Emergencies Kevin Cortés, "a Hospitalito has been installed for immediate assistance in the Puerto de Naos area, within the 'Carnival City'".
This year, the police reinforcements will be present, during this Saturday, March 1st, in the area of the Plaza de El Almacén, and in the area of the Day Carnival, in Puerto del Naos. The Parade will be on Monday, March 3rd, will be from the Vía Medular, towards Puerto de Naos, and the Burial of the Sardine, from the Parque Islas Canarias, towards the Islote del Francés, along the maritime front of Arrecife. Areas where all these troops will be very present, reinforcing security and surveillance during the celebration of these massive events for the carnivals of Arrecife.
In parallel, the Department of Mobility and Transportation, directed by the councilor Mario González Altube, has planned the coordination to minimize the effects on circulation and traffic during the development of these massive events.
