The City Council has proceeded to clean the beach of El Reducto where, after the rains, numerous wipes and sanitary pads had surfaced on the shore. The Consistory affirms that it became aware of these events this Wednesday, activating after that a plan for its cleaning and disinfection "immediately" with the joint action of the departments of Beaches, Cleaning and Civil Protection.
At the request of the Arrecife City Council, the services company Canal Gestión Lanzarote (owner of the concession for the works on the sewage network) and workers from the urban cleaning service concessionaire allocated several workers to manually remove these numerous wipes and sanitary pads. Similarly, with the machinery used to clean the beach, the sand was screened.

On behalf of the Department of Security and Emergencies, under the direction of Councilor Eduardo Placeres Reyes, Civil Protection personnel were deployed to disinfect the accesses to this neuralgic beach, within the special device that the Arrecife City Council has activated these days with alert level 3 for the control of Covid-19.
Likewise, the Consistory points out that the Cleaning Area, under the direction of Councilor Roberto Herbón, will continue to carry out "a follow-up to detect possible outbreaks of these residues, which uncivil people throw in the toilets, when they should always be deposited in waste collection containers."

Meanwhile, the Councilor for Beaches and the Environment, Ángela Hernández, has transferred the maintenance personnel of the beaches of the Arrecife coastline to focus their work during this week on El Reducto beach, which has a Blue Flag.
The Arrecife City Council affirms that, since the last heavy rains, almost two weeks ago, the cleaning services have worked "arduously" to reinforce cleaning in the sensitive areas of the capital, including the entire promenade of El Reducto beach, and the screening - with heavy machinery - of the sand of this beach.
