The Arrecife City Council has held this weekend different events to celebrate Canary Islands Day. The council has thanked the "massive participation" and has highlighted that different events will be held to enhance Canarian culture and traditions.
Highlights include the Los Campesinos concert with Barrios Orquestados, in a very special year in which they celebrate their 60th anniversary as ambassadors of Canarian identity.
The performances of the Parranda El Golpito, the Parranda La Aldaba, Los Gurfines, among others, enlivened the Plaza de Las Palmas with their music, and the tasting of gofio pella in the Casa del Miedo and the children's and pastry workshops were very well received by the attendees.
Echedey Eugenio, Deputy Mayor, has expressed his satisfaction with the development of the events, stating that “the response is being incredible. We have designed this program with the purpose of strengthening the feeling of belonging to the Canary Islands and celebrating our identity together with pride. We want the people of Arrecife and visitors to enjoy our traditions and we are achieving it.
Thus, continuing with the program, everything is ready for this Monday, the First Canarian Day Envite Championship, which will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the Plaza de Las Palmas and for which 37 teams have registered.
