The Arrecife City Council, led by Mayor Yonathan de León, announces the awarding of the contract for drafting the project to condition the second phase of urban transformation of Calle Manolo Millares, in the section between Calle Guenia, the area of the Antonio Zerolo School, and the Rambla Medular, next to the roundabout near the old municipal cemetery.

Yonathan de León has highlighted that "2025 will be a year of cohesion of the neighborhoods of Arrecife with the city center, through different works where boulevards will be created to unite the neighborhoods, from their neuralgic streets, with the city center."

These new boulevards are planned in the neighborhoods of Las Salinas and La Destila, San Francisco Javier and La Vega, Titerroy, Altavista, Los Alonso, Valterra and El Lomo, which will converge with the center to connect the city with a new urban image, transforming several of its main arteries.

Second phase of the modernization of Calle Manolo Millares

The mayor has reported that, through the Framework Agreement, from the Department of Public Works of the Cabildo, led by Vice President Jacobo Medina, this contract has been awarded to the company Arquitectura y Urbanismo Estudio Boix, S.L.P., for an amount of 27,779.00 euros plus 1,944.53 euros as IGIC, within the framework of the agreement signed with the Cabildo of Lanzarote.

This action aims to modernize and improve the urban environment of one of the main arteries of the city, with special attention to accessibility, functionality and beautification of the area, in line with the strategic plans for revitalization of the city of Arrecife, which is being promoted by the Municipal Government led by Mayor Yonathan de León.

"The modernization of this new area of Calle Manolo Millares is a project that we will execute in 2025, with its upcoming tender, and is part of an ambitious plan to continue promoting Arrecife as a modern, accessible and barrier-free capital, with more trees and shaded walking areas, and that cohesively unites the city by connecting the neighborhoods of Las Salinas and La Destila. This section, so busy, needed an urban transformation that responds to the demands of our residents and merchants. This urban action demonstrates our commitment to a more friendly, more sustainable city, with a renewed and modern image," said the mayor of the capital and direct head of the Department of Public Works, Yonathan de León.

For his part, the vice president and head of Public Works of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Jacobo Medina, highlighted "the relevance of the project. From Public Works of the Cabildo we continue to promote key projects to improve the urban spaces of Lanzarote, and collaboration with the Arrecife City Council is fundamental in this process. The improvement of Calle Manolo Millares will not only provide aesthetic value, but will facilitate mobility and connectivity in a strategic area for the capital."

The awarding of this project "reinforces the coordination between the City Council and the Cabildo to advance in initiatives that transform Arrecife into a more modern city, cohesive in its neighborhoods and the center, attractive and adapted to the current needs of pedestrians and drivers," they concluded.
