The Arrecife City Council Plenary has finally approved this Friday the project to rehabilitate 40 homes in Valterra and Titerroy, announced for years. However, the PP criticizes that this new agreement approved "is not ambitious at all", since the initial project involved "an investment of more than 20 million euros and included more than 166 homes" in both neighborhoods.
"Now, with this new document, which arrives late, badly and in a hurry, only 40 homes are included," criticize the popular, who accuse the government group of having spent "three years hibernating, both they and the project." In addition, they consider that the new agreement has more of an "electoral tinge" than anything else. "We do not see that it is an agreement aimed at executing a project that dignifies the lives of the people who live in those neighborhoods," the popular point out.
According to the PP, "there was never a will to solve the problem, since the first measure of the government group was to eliminate a budget item of 1 million euros destined for rehabilitation by the City Council." They also assure that the previous government of the Popular Party, under the Mayoralty of Cándido Reguera, "left them the project completed and the State had already entered its corresponding economic annuity."
"They had everything in their favor. All that was missing was to tender the works on the homes. We even had a broad consensus with the neighbors who had even chosen the model of their houses," says councilor Joel Delgado. "Now what we find is a careless government, which has hibernated during these last three years and totally disenchanted neighbors," concludes the spokesman for the popular.
