The Arrecife City Council will grant this Friday in the Local Government Board, the license and approval of the project for 134 social houses in Maneje, corresponding to lots 2 and 3 of the project presented by the Government of the Canary Islands. This occurs after more than 25 years in which no public housing project has been approved in the capital.

Therefore, once the project is approved in the Governing Board, the Arrecife City Council will grant administrative collaboration to the Government of the Canary Islands so that it can execute the entire project and build the social houses in the Maneje neighborhood.

“We hope that this is the last step so that, finally, the construction of these social houses so demanded by the citizens of the capital begins as soon as possible,” says the mayor of Arrecife, Astrid Pérez.

It was this Monday, January 9, when the Government of the Canary Islands presented the last of the corrections based on Lot 3 of the construction project of these houses. “In just three days, the City Council has carried out the technical and legal reports to take them to the Governing Board as soon as possible and, thus, be able to grant the license,” says the Councilor for Urban Planning, Eduardo Placeres.

The Arrecife City Council hopes that, as soon as possible, the Government of the Canary Islands will correct the remaining lot of the project, with another 67 houses, which are the ones that remain until reaching the 201 houses that will be built in the Maneje neighborhood.

“One of my first measures was to transfer the land to the Government of the Canary Islands, and it has taken almost 4 years to deliver the projects and the City Council has granted a license in record time,” adds the mayor, Astrid Pérez.

The Councilor for Urban Planning recalls that in this legislature work has been done to carry out social construction in the capital “27 years after the last construction”. “We have demonstrated our commitment to the creation of these houses, carrying out projects after years of inaction by previous governments,” concludes Placeres.
