The municipal political group of Lanzarote En Pie (LEP) in the Arrecife City Council has valued "positively" the unanimous approval of the implementation of a single window for attention to people with functional diversity in Arrecife.

"We believe that the creation of a single window for attention to people with functional diversity will facilitate the relationship of this group with the City Council in terms of administrative processes," they argue from Lanzarote En Pie. "It is a priority that the administration begins to adapt so that these people are guaranteed access to public information in equal conditions," they say.

"Promoting the autonomy of people with functional diversity is improving their quality of life, and the administration must put all the tools for it," says the municipal spokesperson, Leticia Padilla. "They should be provided with access to clear information, adapted to their needs and understandable so that they can carry out administrative procedures as citizens with autonomy," she adds.

"The approval of this proposal is the first step to advance in inclusion within the relationship with the administration, since they will have a single point of information and processing that will facilitate the processes. However, for this to become a reality, we must start working to have and adapt the spaces, have trained personnel and allocate economic items," Padilla points out.

Public library for Argana Alta

On the other hand, Padilla highlighted the approval of another of the proposals that will allow the residents of Argana Alta to have a municipal library, which is a "repeated demand of the residents of the area."

"The creation of a public library in the neighborhood will allow, especially young people, to have an adequate space to develop their educational and study tasks without having to travel two or three kilometers for it," explains Padilla.

"Having this space could help reduce the statistics of the young population pushed to school failure and social exclusion, given that until the approval of our proposal, it only had a socio-cultural center where activities are carried out, clearly insufficient to develop study tasks," concludes Padilla.

On the other hand, from the formation they affirm that the measure will also contribute to "help not only the young people of the neighborhood but also the elderly who want to get their studies ahead to obtain a qualification that helps them improve their situation from the professional and personal point of view and who require an adequate space to be able to achieve their objectives."
