The San Bartolomé City Council has resolved the call for subsidies aimed at promoting the rehabilitation of private homes in the municipality, corresponding to the 2024-2025 fiscal years, financed by the Government of the Canary Islands, through the Canary Islands Housing Institute.

In total, 196 families in the municipality will benefit from a global investment of 700,000 euros, aimed at improving habitability, energy efficiency, and the regularization of their homes.

The mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez, pointed out that "this aid represents a very important step to improve the quality of life of hundreds of families and continue betting on a model of municipality that grows in a balanced way, preserving its neighborhoods and rural environment. We have managed to maintain a line of support that has been lost in many places, and that is the result of the perseverance and rigorous management of the City Council."

This type of subsidy is intended for municipalities with fewer than 20,000 inhabitants.

In this sense, the Councilor for Urban Planning and Housing, Marlene Romero, highlighted that "San Bartolomé is currently the only municipality on the island that has managed to maintain these lines of subsidies for three consecutive years, thanks to the technical work and planning developed from the area. This aid is very necessary because it allows us to improve homes, make them more sustainable and accessible, and move towards a more habitable municipality that is committed to its residents."

With this resolution, the San Bartolomé City Council reaffirms its commitment to the right to decent housing, the settling of the population in rural areas, and the promotion of residential sustainability, consolidating a municipal policy of direct support for families and improvement of the municipality's housing stock.
