Armando Santana, member of the Mixed Group in the Cabildo of Lanzarote, has announced his intention to request the Cabildo of Lanzarote to assess, in coordination with the municipalities of the island, the situation of families who have lost material goods as a result of the heavy rains recorded last Saturday.
Santana considers it essential that, after a technical assessment of the damage, a specific line of aid be urgently activated for the affected residents of Lanzarote, addressing both damage to homes and personal belongings or vehicles.
"Many people have been affected, from damage to their homes to significant material losses. Now is the time for politics to demonstrate that it can be useful to people, be close and provide concrete solutions," said Santana.
In this regard, the member calls for unity among the entire political class of Lanzarote, emphasizing that "in difficult times like this, we must all be united, regardless of each other's political affiliation. The citizens expect responses and high-mindedness from us." There will be moments to demand accountability, but now it is time to be with the people in a misfortune like this, where it is seen firsthand that many are having a hard time.
Santana also insists on the need for this aid to be agile, transparent and accessible, and for direct communication to be maintained with residents to avoid unnecessary bureaucratic obstacles, for which the Cabildo plays a fundamental role not only in economic resources, but also in coordination.
