The Unión General de Trabajadores (UGT) union has announced the call for a strike due to the lack of agreement in the collective agreement negotiations with the company Urbaser.

As reported in a press release issued this Wednesday, in the workers' assembly held this Tuesday, May 20, the "stagnation in the negotiation of the collective agreement with the company was transferred, due to the contract currently held by the Arrecife City Council, which is about to end."

The contract signed between the Arrecife City Council and the company URBASER "has an expiration date of next year 2026."

After the pre-agreement reached between employers and the RLPT (Legal Representation of Workers) on December 20, 2024, by which the strike was called off, and after five months, "it has not been executed, given that differences persist between the Arrecife City Council, ultimately responsible for the Service, and the Service provider, Urbaser S.A." Thus, they have announced that "the agreement has not been signed, nor the clauses agreed in the pre-agreement."

Finally, the union has warned that "time has run out, and a strike is called indefinitely starting next June 5, 2025 in the city of Arrecife."
