The Extraordinary Assembly of the Local Committee of Coalición Canaria in Tías elected Amado Vizcaíno by majority as candidate for Mayor of said City Council in the elections of May 2023.
Vizcaíno stressed that “despite the efforts of some to make us disappear, Coalición Canaria is more alive than ever. We do have a future project for the municipality, for the island and for the Canary Islands. Coalición Canaria is here and we are going to win. This time it is the definitive one”.
Vizcaíno, who is running for the third time as a candidate, took a tour of the unmet needs of the municipality and pointed out that “the manifest inability to manage and the lack of desire to work of this misgovernment led by the PSOE has meant that all the investments that we achieved during the previous term through the Municipal Cooperation Plans have not been executed. More than three million euros lost only in Cabildo projects, in addition to many other millions of euros from the Government of the Canary Islands for the renovation of the Avenue, the streets of La Tiñosa, El Fondeadero and its restaurant school, the sailors' warehouse, the Los Lirios road or the promises for La Asomada, Conil and Masdache, to give a few brushstrokes of what they said they were going to do and have not done”.
Thus, he stressed that “we must demonstrate that we are the best alternative for Tías and not the state parties such as the PP, or the PSOE, which only ruined our City Council in 2011. So we have a lot of work to recover. For now, an entire term”.
Amado Vizcaíno also recalled that in politics, to win, you have to think and work as a team because, he stressed, “politics is not about one or the other, it is about improving our streets, our municipality, our island and that is why we need to have a broad vision and work without expecting anything in return”.
The event, held at the La Tiñosa Sociocultural Center, was attended by the island secretary of Lanzarote, Migdalia Machín, and the local secretary of Tías, Alejandro Rodríguez, as well as the rest of the local secretaries of the different committees, the candidate for Mayor of San Bartolomé, David Rocío, the mayor of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancort, and other public and organic officials of the nationalist formation.
In her speech, Migdalia Machín highlighted the figure of Amado Vizcaíno, recalling that “the future of Tías bears the name of CC, of our project and of our candidate, because Amado was a clear example of consensus and dialogue policy when we governed and has been a clear example that the important thing is to continue listening to the residents and contributing initiatives to solve their needs and problems from a responsible opposition”.
She also recalled that reaching an agreement with San Borondón “was a mistake that we have paid dearly for. At that time we considered that it was the best for the municipality, but it was a mistake. We trust that everyone will play fair, like us; but unfortunately it is not like that”, she stressed.
On the other hand, the leader of the nationalist formation highlighted the importance of the process established in Coalición Canaria for the election of the different candidates, and recalled that CC is an open and participatory party.
“We have the foundations to face with guarantees the challenge of leading the change that Lanzarote urgently needs again because neither the island nor the citizens can bear the current deterioration at all levels”, she said.
